About this guide
Later Life Bathrooms is an independent, practical guide to safer, easier bathrooms for older people, disabled people and carers.
What we do
We explain the choices — walk-in baths, level-access showers, wet rooms and smaller bathroom aids — in plain English. We also explain the help you may be able to get with the cost, and how to choose an installer safely.
How we check our information
- We base our guides on official and independent sources, such as GOV.UK, the NHS, NHS inform, nidirect, the Welsh and Scottish Governments, HMRC, the Health and Safety Executive and Living Made Easy.
- Every guide lists the sources we used, and the date we last checked the facts.
- We do not make up figures. If we cannot find a reliable source for something, we leave it out.
- Rules and amounts change, so we always suggest checking with the organisation before you rely on a figure.
What we are not
We are not a charity, a council, an installer or a health service, and we do not sell bathrooms. Our guides are general information, not medical, financial or legal advice. An occupational therapist can assess what is safe for you.
